Melissa's Hair

Day 5 of the Reunion Tour landed me on the door step of my long time pal and confidante Melissa. We met while working at a mid town Italian eatery in 1990, or was it '91? In any event, we both had a few strands of grey even then, but little did I know how that trend would sustain itself--flourish even--over the course of the next 16 years. Melissa always had a shock of the gray up front, avaunt guard to some, but for her I think it was a way to add substance to an image that might too easily be written off as fluff. It's easy for pretty young woman to become marginalized because of their appearance. Mel was the spitting image of Brooke Sheilds, so that little bit of grey brought out more of a Maria Shriver. An Actress at the time, she would later become a Psychotherapist eventually pairing up with and marrying a stunningly handsome Westchester Psychiatrist. A very hot couple, but what does that have to do with gray hair you ask. Nothing really.

I never really liked the grey hair on either of us, and during a Cape Cod vacation in 1993 , I convinced Melissa to join me in hitting the bottle: The hair dye bottle.
Oooh lord we looked HOT! I thought so any way, I don't think she really liked the stuff.
Fast forward to last Monday. After three years apart--the longest separation of our long friendship--I came face to face with my beautiful friend framed almost entirely in grey. I couldn't take my eyes off of her; off of it... the Grey. Did you hear? It's the new Fabulous.

If you ask me, there are few things hotter than some gray hair - salt and pepper is my favorite, or guys with some gray at their temples - MMM!
